Homemade Apple Sauce

It is so nice and simple to make your own applesauce! If you have any apples that need to be used up this is the perfect place to do so. This recipe freezes well if you make extras! We recommend Spartan or MacIntosh apples but any variety will work.

INGREDIENTS

    apple(s), peeled & roughly chopped
  • 0.5
    Teaspoon
    cinnamon
  • 2
    Tablespoon
    water
  • 2
    Tablespoon
    brown sugar (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine all of the ingredients in a large heavy-bottomed pot and simmer on medium low heat until the apples are cooked and soft, around 30-45 minutes.  If you don’t like your applesauce chunky simply mash it with a potato masher.  Cool and serve or freeze!
